It was the year 2012 when Gloria and Andy first met at the party of a mutual friend. Their relationship has continued to blossom since that cold day, and we were honored when they asked us to photograph them high above at the top of the Sea-to-Sky Gondola, as a celebration of their engagement, years later.

Although Gloria and Andy may disagree on the little things, such as the best Canadian hockey team, their compatibility is as inspiring as their thoughtfulness towards one another. One touching moment during the wedding shoot involved a surprise gift from Andy to Gloria – a recreation of Burnaby Mountain, a place that has a very special meaning to this couple. His gift, an elegant background of benches and trees, was lit with hundreds of white lights, touching the bride’s emotions to the point of tears.
The wedding itself was beautifully traditional, with white linen on the tables, topped with formal place settings and wedding favors enclosed in gold boxes. The wedding party looked stunning in dark blue suits and blue chiffon, floor length dresses. The bride wore a fitted, lace gown complimented with minimal accessories, and her hair had been romantically twisted into an up-do at the base of her neck.

We began our photo shoot on their wedding day in the bridal’s quarters, before moving to photograph the groom getting ready with his groomsmen. First look when the bridal couple laid eyes on one another that day took place in Deer lake park and it was such an emotional moment. Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel where the ceremony and reception took place provided some amazing shots to commemorate this important day – the warm afternoon allowed for a lush green backdrop outside, and once the formal reception began our backdrop changed to black, with twinkles of light used to highlight our shots. As the end of the evening approached, we said goodbye to Gloria and Andy for the time being. We wish them the best and look forward to being a part of future memories that they create together.
